ARRT- licensed technologists are required to complete 24 Category 'A' or 'A+' credits within their 2 year biennium.

STATE LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- If your state is not listed below then your state does not have any additional licensing requirements that are separate from the ARRT
(American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).

CALIFORNIA - Our courses meet the California continuing education credit requirement as long as the program subject matter relates to the application of x-ray to the human body, which may include x-ray administration, x-ray management, x-ray pathology, x-ray diagnosis, and x-ray quality control. However, subjects in MRI and ultrasound are not related to the application of x-ray to the human body. Therefore, we do not recommend using the following programs to satisfy California state requirements:

Communication Skills for the Healthcare Professional
Legal & Ethical Issues in Health Occupations
Stress Management
Ultrasound Secrets
Ultrasound Review in Abdomen & OB/GYN
Essentials of Sonography & Patient Care

In addition, the following courses meet the new California digital radiography and/or fluoroscopy requirements:

Radiography PREP (37 Category A units): 4 hours digital radiography; 4 hours radiation safety for the clinical uses of fluoroscopy
Essentials of Radiography (24 Category A units): 4 hours digital radiography; 4 hours radiation safety for the clinical uses of fluoroscopy
Radiation Protection in Medical Radiography (15 Category A units): 2 hours digital radiography; 4 hours radiation safety for the clinical uses of fluoroscopy
Radiography Imaging & Exposure (11 Category A units): 4 hours digital radiography; 4 hours radiation safety for the clinical uses of fluoroscopy
Rad Tech's Guide to Radiation Safety (5 Category A units): 4 hours radiation safety for the clinical uses of fluoroscopy

Mammo & Breast PREP (27 Category A units): 4 hours digital radiography
Breast Imaging: The Requisites (18.5 Category A units): 4 hours digital radiography

All questions regarding California licensing requirements should be directed to the California Department of Health at: www.dhs.ca.gov/rhb.
